Poland’s History with European Cup Finals

Poland has a rich history of hosting European cup finals. In 2015, Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy welcomed the UEFA Europa League finalists, where Sevilla FC triumphed over Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk with a thrilling 3:2 victory, featuring a goal by Polish player Grzegorz Krychowiak. In 2021, the Polsat Plus Arena in Gdańsk hosted the Europa League final, where Villarreal CF emerged victorious against Manchester United after a nail-biting penalty shootout.

The Venue: Tarczyński Arena Wrocław

The 2025 final will take place at the Tarczyński Arena Wrocław, a state-of-the-art stadium built between 2009 and 2011 for the 2012 UEFA European Championship, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine. With a capacity of over 45,000, including VIP boxes and seats, it boasts the highest UEFA category—4. The stadium’s inaugural match was held on October 28, 2011, when Śląsk Wrocław faced Lechia Gdańsk. The Polish national team debuted at this venue two weeks later against Italy and has played there 12 more times, most recently on June 1, 2022.
